Open Monday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Closed from 12:00 PM to 1:00 for lunch. Open Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for lunch. Open the 3rd Saturday of the month from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Office is closed 2nd Thursday of the month from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM for staff development. Office is closed the Friday after the 3rd Saturday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Children younger than 5, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers in Houston can benefit from the WIC program, which provides healthy food, nutrition classes and one-on-one counseling with nutritionists. WIC is open to many families in Houston, and if you receive Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF, you're already eligible for WIC. Even if you don't receive these programs, you may still qualify by meeting the income guidelines for your household. 1. Review documentation and determine your WIC eligibility.
2. Weigh, measure and check iron status for you (if pregnant) and your child.
3. Answer any questions you may have about health, nutrition or breastfeeding.

At your visit, WIC staff will give you a Texas WIC card to use at the grocery store with a food package to meet your family's nutritional needs.

Breastfeeding is a natural and beautiful way to provide the best nutrition for your baby, and it can be challenging at times. Your local WIC office at 8536 Hammerly Blvd in Houston is here to help! They can connect you to various WIC resources to support your breastfeeding journey. WIC's lactation consultants, classes, peer counselors and 24/7 statewide hotline are available to help you breastfeed successfully. The breastfeeding classes cover topics such as:

• Different breastfeeding positions.
• How to get a good latch.
• Feeding patterns.
• Baby's hunger cues and more.
  For 24/7 breastfeeding help, call the Texas Lactation Support Hotline at 855-550-6667. This hotline is free and available to anyone in Texas.

We offer free online classes to fit your busy schedule, and many WIC locations have classes in person, too. Online classes are free even if you are not a WIC client. Our classes cover many topics, from healthy snacks and picky eating to breastfeeding tips and more! Classes are designed to provide you with knowledge and support when feeding your little ones.

Whether you prefer to learn on your own or with the help of our nutrition and breastfeeding experts, we have options to fit your schedule and learning style. Our on-demand classes are available anytime, while our live classes provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and connect with other parents in your community. And because we know that everyone's schedule is different, we offer classes at various times throughout the week.
