Children younger than 5, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers in JBSA-Lackland can benefit from the WIC program, which provides healthy food, nutrition classes and one-on-one counseling with nutritionists. Looking for healthy food, nutrition education or breastfeeding tips and support in JBSA-Lackland? Applying for WIC is easy! You can begin your application online or call the WIC office in JBSA-Lackland near you to schedule an appointment. WIC is available to many families, and if you or your children receive Medicaid, SNAP or TANF, you automatically meet the income eligibility guidelines for WIC. Even if you don't receive these programs, you may still qualify by meeting the income guidelines for your household. Don't hesitate to apply and get the benefits that WIC offers!

If you are attending your first appointment at Lackland Air Force Base, 1550 Wurtsmith St., Building 5725, Room 212, JBSA-Lackland, visit TexasWIC.org to learn what documentation is needed. During your appointment, WIC office staff will:

1. Review documentation and determine your WIC eligibility.
2. Weigh, measure and check iron status for you (if pregnant) and your child.
3. Answer any questions you may have about health, nutrition or breastfeeding.
   At the end of your visit, you will get a food package specially designed to meet your family's nutritional needs and a Texas WIC card to use at the grocery store.

Breastfeeding is an amazing thing a mother can do for her baby's health, and it's not always easy. That's where your local WIC office at 1550 Wurtsmith St., Building 5725, Room 212 in JBSA-Lackland comes in. They can connect you with WIC lactation consultants, breastfeeding classes, WIC peer counselors and a 24/7 statewide hotline to help you breastfeed successfully. WIC's breastfeeding classes cover many topics, including different breastfeeding positions, how to get a good latch, feeding patterns and baby's hunger cues. These classes help you feel confident and empowered in your breastfeeding journey.

For 24/7 breastfeeding help, call the Texas Lactation Support Hotline at 855-550-6667. This hotline is free and available to anyone in Texas.

We offer free online classes to fit your busy schedule, and many WIC locations have classes in person, too. Online classes are free even if you are not a WIC client. Our classes cover many topics, from healthy snacks and picky eating to breastfeeding tips and more! Classes are designed to provide you with knowledge and support when feeding your little ones.

Whether you prefer to learn on your own or with the help of our nutrition and breastfeeding experts, we have options to fit your schedule and learning style. Our on-demand classes are available anytime, while our live classes provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and connect with other parents in your community. And because we know that everyone's schedule is different, we offer classes at various times throughout the week.
